With WoW: Dragonflight, Blizzard has fundamentally overhauled the aging professions. While players welcome most changes with open arms, some are bothered by a new feature: the profession knowledge and the associated talent trees.
What has changed with Dragonflight? Compared to previous expansions, the developers have paid particular attention to the professions in WoW: Dragonflight. This was much needed, as not much had changed in the systems over the years.
In Dragonflight, all primary professions have their own talent tree where players can invest points. This way, they receive certain bonuses or can unlock new recipes, for example. As usual, the more points you invest, the stronger the bonuses you receive. At least in theory.
We’ll tell you in this article how the new professions work in detail and how you can level them up as quickly as possible: Leveling professions in WoW Dragonflight – Here’s how to do it faster
Why do players criticize the feature? However, in practice, the system shows some weaknesses that can be quite annoying depending on how you invest your knowledge points. It’s important to know that once you spend knowledge points, you cannot get them back. The allocation of these points is permanent.
Think of it like with normal talent points: Were you briefly inattentive and invested a point incorrectly? No problem, just go to the class trainer and you can undo your mistake.
With profession talents, this is not possible. If you made a mistake during the allocation, you cannot fix it anymore.
While you can gather more profession knowledge and invest these points differently, it’s cumbersome and takes a lot of time. However, there is currently a little trick that allows you to farm profession knowledge faster: Right now, you get 2 skill points and 3 knowledge for professions in WoW Dragonflight almost for free.

Reddit post strikes a chord with players – hoping Blizzard improves it
What is being discussed on Reddit? A Reddit post by the user “u/SolaVitae” has gained a lot of attention and over 800 upvotes in a short time. The user describes that in the game, he has chosen both engineering and mining as professions.
In mining, he chose a talent that gave him the chance to find rare gems when mining ores. He states that he has mined more than 7,000 ores. The effort was not worth it, as he did not find a single gem.
What do players want? In the criticism, two things stand out. On the one hand, players want Blizzard to implement the ability to reallocate profession knowledge and the associated talents.
On the other hand, the community hopes that the developers will revise the tooltips of the talents. They want them to clearly describe what the talents do. This way, it should be clear at a glance whether a talent is really worthwhile or not.
Now it’s your turn! How do you like the professions in WoW: Dragonflight? Is the new system too complicated and would you like to have the old one back? Or did the developers take a step in the right direction? What would you improve? Share your opinion with us and leave a comment!
