WoW Dragonflight has completely overhauled the crafting system, and now for the best items, you need Primal Chaos. MeinMMO reveals how you can obtain this epic material.
Here you can get Primal Chaos: The best way to obtain Primal Chaos is through Mythic+ dungeons. Mythic dungeons are more challenging versions of dungeons available since Season 1 on December 14.
Blizzard increased the drop rates in the dungeons with a hotfix on December 23. According to our observations, you receive one Primal Chaos for completing a dungeon per level – a Mythic+10 dungeon gives you 10 Chaos.
Other possible sources are:
- weekly quests with Sabellian and Furorion
- the weekly quest: “Support the Accord”
- certain world quests and the new world bosses that rotate each week
- rare enemies on the Dragon Isles
- expedition scouting packs and disturbed earth
- once for completing certain quests like killing Raszageth in the new raid
Is there a limit? No. You can farm as much Primal Chaos as you like at any time. The only limit is the time you need to complete Mythic dungeons, as these are the only consistent and reliable source.

What do I need Primal Chaos for? With this material, you can craft the best items in Dragonflight, such as a neckpiece that is currently “BiS” for most classes. You also need Primal Chaos to create a (Concentrated) Primal Infusion from collected primal focus or concentrated primal focus.
The infusions are optional crafting materials that you can use to bring crafted items to an item level corresponding to mythic raids. You also need Primal Chaos for the strong potions from alchemists.
If you are eager for the crafted items, you don’t have to level a profession yourself. It is enough if others can do it.
With the new profession system, you can simply place an order, and someone else will craft the items for you. You only need to provide the materials and make them available. This also works with soulbound items like Chaos.
