A new patch is being downloaded for World of Warcraft – and it’s quite extensive.
The Legion’s March Begins
Since last night, it is possible to download the first game data of the major patch 7.0.3. This marks the end of the WoW expansion “Warlords of Draenor” and leads players into the next addon, Legion. As usual, the patch brings a large part of the game data required for Legion so that no large amounts of data have to be downloaded by players on release day, allowing them to head directly to the Broken Isles.
In addition to the data for the Broken Isles, the patch also includes talent changes, new animations, and adjustments to professions.
Fans should start the download sooner rather than later, as the patch encompasses a whopping 18GB and could therefore paralyze weaker connections for quite a while.
Is the download not starting for you yet? Then check in the settings of your Battle.net client if you have ticked “Perform latest updates and download data for future updates”.
It is to be expected that on the patch day – which still has no specific date – further data will be needed, which is currently still in testing. Fans are already wildly speculating in the forums and on Reddit about when the big day will come, and so far fans seem to agree on July 20 or 27. Both dates would also correspond with the pre-patches of previous expansions, as they were always released 4-6 weeks before the actual addon was released.
