Will there ever be a sequel to the Warcraft movie? The director deems it unlikely that there will be a Warcraft movie part 2, pointing to the large companies as the culprits.
The Warcraft movie is considered by many fans as a milestone in the history of video game adaptations. Nevertheless, the film could not meet the high expectations and production costs in many countries – especially not in America. Still, many World of Warcraft fans continue to hope for a sequel and are pressing the director Duncan Jones on Twitter for a statement.
When Jones published a small video on Twitter pondering new film ideas, a user noted “That’s not a Warcraft Sequel!” expressing his sorrow.
Jones responded, “I know. I’m sorry. And I fear that it’s also not very likely. Too many companies are involved to be able to create that.”
Too many cooks spoil the broth. This criticism has repeatedly been voiced by Jones in the past. When creating Warcraft: The Beginning, he was influenced by multiple parties, preventing him from showcasing the vision of Azeroth he had envisioned. Thus, the outlook for a possible sequel seems grim.
For those who liked the first Warcraft movie, it’s better not to expect a sequel any time soon.
Fans hope for Arthas story. The story revolving around Arthas Menethil and his rise to the Lich King is the most popular among fans – essentially the entire story of Warcraft 3. Many players were disappointed that Blizzard did not start with this story and believe that the Warcraft movie would have been much more successful had it focused on Arthas.
