A new pet has appeared in the data from the new WoW addon Battle for Azeroth. The adorable new companion is already causing a stir – as it could be a hint towards a new Diablo.
A little goat can accompany you as a pet in Battle for Azeroth. The dataminers from Wowhead are uncovering more and more new items from the data of Battle for Azeroth. Among them is now a new pet for everyone: Baa’l.
Baa’l is a mysterious pet
Meanwhile, Baa’l can even be found in the collection on the beta servers for Battle for Azeroth. The small black goat is adorned all over its body with strange, bloody runes that strongly resemble demonic symbols. Its description only states that “not much is known about this otherworldly servant.”
Baa’l itself can be learned with the item “Baa’ls Dark Mark”. However, where you obtain this item is still unknown. Nonetheless, the goat has sparked discussions elsewhere.
Fans sense an allusion
The name Baa’l plays on the “Baa” sound that goats make. However, “Baal” is also the name of the last boss in Diablo II: Lords of Destruction. Together with the demonic appearance of the four-horned goat, this provides a basis for many speculations:
Fans suspect a new Diablo: As it has been quiet around the Diablo franchise for a long time, many fans of the series see in Baa’l a hint of new content. They hope for a remake of Diablo 2, an addon for Diablo 3 or even a Diablo 4.
Baal as a hero in Heroes of the Storm: Another speculation concerns Blizzard’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm. Some players suspect that Baa’l’s namesake will appear as a playable hero in Heroes of the Storm.
Nothing at all: Despite the hot fan theories, there are also some users who see the matter rather coolly. Baa’l could just be a cool allusion – and nothing more. It would not be the first time that Blizzard leaves a promising premise hanging.
