Fans want a memorial in WoW, in remembrance of the deceased streamer and fan site operator Vanion. A petition is now supposed to make this possible.
Anyone who is a little active in the German community of World of Warcraft will have heard the news in the past days. Patrick Michalczak, better known among WoW fans as Vanion, passed away on January 2, 2018, at the age of only 39.
For many years he was the operator of the site Vanion.eu, which was one of the first points of contact for many German fans seeking information and guides about World of Warcraft.
Vanion was not only active as a streamer but also regularly fed his site with columns and guides. He often interviewed developers of World of Warcraft and was thus able to gain exciting insights or bring pressing questions from players directly to the topic.
No matter how you look at it: Vanion was an important member of the German WoW community.
The community wants an in-game memorial
Some fans of the German WoW player base care about Vanion so much that they wish Blizzard would honor him for his work – through a memorial in World of Warcraft.
Such memorials to important community members or former developers exist in World of Warcraft by the dozens.
The community member Dennis Kiefer has now started a petition on change.org, seeking supporters to make this wish come true. If enough signatures are collected, the idea goes, Blizzard might then create a memorial to Vanion in World of Warcraft.
Currently, the petition has already collected over 2,000 votes, and the number is growing rapidly.
