Your bank in World of Warcraft will change drastically. You have more space than before, but something is disappearing.
If players can struggle with one thing in World of Warcraft, it is with the inventory space in the game. Although there are now several hundred slots in the bank, bags, or reagent storage, there is never enough space.
Over the years, Blizzard has created more help here, such as the void storage or an extra space just for crafting materials. Both will now be abolished. Because WoW is revising your bank and standardizing it.
The teaser for the next patch 11.2 Spirits of K’aresh:
What does Blizzard have planned? In the next patch, Blizzard will remove many old methods of storing items and replace them completely. Sacrificed here will be the storage for crafting materials (also often called “reagent storage”). The void bank will also be completely eliminated. The old bank will also be removed, along with the additional space that could be unlocked through stored bags.
All this will be replaced by a personal bank, which is strongly reminiscent of the bank of the war horde. Soon you will have large tabs on your bank with a variety of free slots.
50 inventory slots more – in the worst case
How much more space will you have? The amount of space you will gain depends mainly on how much you have already exploited your bank, the void storage and the storage for crafting materials. We will look at how much space you will have in the future and how much you have had so far.
- The new system consists of 6 bank tabs with 98 slots each, for a total of 588 slots.
From this value, we will now subtract the previously possible maximum values of the slots that will be lost:
- Void bank (160 slots)
- Storage for crafting materials (98 slots)
- Standard bank (28 slots)
- 7 additional bank bags, equipped with 36-slot bags each (252 slots)
This results in a total loss of 538 slots in the worst case, while the new system provides you with 588 inventory slots.
Or in short: In the worst case, you will receive 50 additional inventory slots in the bank, and in the best case significantly more.
Bottom line, this is a purely positive change. Because slots like the void storage could only be filled with certain items. In the future, all these slots will be unrestricted, so you can manage your bank much more freely and find everything bundled in one place.
What does it cost? This depends on how much you have already unlocked in your bank and what level your character is. In general:
| Bank Tab | Cost in gold | Slots (total) |
| 1 | 1 | 98 |
| 2 | 100 | 196 |
| 3 | 500 | 294 |
| 4 | 1,000 | 392 |
| 5 | 2,500 | 490 |
| 6 | 5,000 | 588 |
- If your character is already level 80, all slots will be automatically unlocked upon login.
- If your character is under level 80, unlocking depends on how many bag slots you already have in the bank and whether you have unlocked the void storage and storage for crafting materials.
When is it coming? The change to the bank will come with Patch 11.2 Spirits of K’aresh – that is, already in August.
When you log in after the patch, your bank will automatically switch to the new system. The items from the various areas (i.e., void storage, bank bags, etc.) will be in the new slots of your bank after the switch.
You can then designate one or more tabs as a new storage for crafting materials, ensuring no functional loss.
Community is worried about beloved items: Even if the increased space in the bank brings a lot of joy, there are also many concerns. When WoW last revised the bank, guild banks were affected by a problem. Some guilds lost entire tabs of their bank and in many cases, the items could not be restored. Some fear that such a debacle could now repeat itself with players’ personal items.
Others, however, have confidence that Blizzard has learned from past mistakes and will ensure that this issue does not lead to the loss of beloved items a second time. But don’t worry, there’s certainly Xal’atath to console you over this loss. With a new macro, you can always have her most important body parts
right in front of you…
