To secure a spot in Antorus, a healer in WoW took down his colleagues with a DDoS attack. This has now come to light!
The battle for World-First Kills in World of Warcraft is still in full swing. While 9 guilds are now competing for the first kill of Argus the Unmaker, there are also conflicts within the guilds. As it has now become known, some players will stop at nothing to secure a place in the raid.
Adois from Limit had been on the “hit list” for a while, as his healing output did not meet the standards of the professionals. However, he had a cunning plan to secure his place as a healer during the mythic progress phase of the Tomb of Sargeras and Antorus.
With DDoS to a permanent spot in the raid
The idea was well thought out: Adois sent links to other healers in the raid. If a healer clicked on this link, Adois obtained the player’s IP address and could then initiate a DDoS attack. The healer’s internet connection was then overwhelmed with so many requests that it resulted in severe lag and ultimately even a disconnect for the player.
As luck would have it, Adois was always ready in time to fill the healer’s gap and present himself as the heroic savior.
Surprisingly, the lag for the other players always ended right at the end of the raid phase, which gradually raised suspicion.
This behavior has now been exposed after several months. Incidents where Adois came online and shortly thereafter a healer lost connection after clicking a link from Adois kept piling up.
In the meantime, Adois has been kicked from the guild and is therefore no longer a part of Limit. This would probably have happened sooner if Limit had found a decent shaman replacement.
According to Jeathebelle from Limit, Adois was already on the hit list and was to be replaced soon. Limit has already actively looked for a replacement, and “you could just ask the big guilds that Limit has been looking for a new shaman for quite a while.” However, they still held onto Adois, as “it was assumed that he was just a bad player and not also an asshole.”
An exciting story that once again shows: In war and the World-First race, anything goes – until it gets exposed.
