It is a frequently asked question: What happens to the artifact weapons in WoW: Legion when the addon comes to an end. A newly found cutscene now gives insight into the fate of the historic weapons.
With Antorus, the Burning Throne, the last raid for WoW: Legion has arrived. With Argus, the Unmaker, the last boss of the addon has fallen. This marks the end of the Legion expansion: Data miners have now discovered a cutscene that provides hints about the fate of the artifact weapons.
Spoiler warning! If you do not want to find out what happens after Argus falls and what happens to the artifact weapons after Antorus, you should not continue reading!
The fate of the artifact weapons as vessels for dark energy
Once you have defeated Argus, the Unmaker in Antorus, you will see a cinematic. In this, Sargeras plunges his gigantic sword into Azeroth in a final act of wrath, specifically in Silithus, where it creates a massive wound.
This sword is now gradually poisoning the lifeblood of the Titan Azeroth through Sargeras’ power and thus threatens to destroy the planet. To prevent this, Magni calls upon you aboard an airship to absorb the power of the dark titan and render it harmless.
To avert the damage, the champions of Azeroth must together contain the sinister energy in vessels that can withstand the power – the artifact weapons. With united forces, they finally succeed in absorbing the power.
The weapons are (still) not destroyed. Most of the artifact bearers are still standing at the end of the cutscene, holding their weapons in their hands. However, the weapons are probably corrupted afterwards…

Since this is datamining, please note: The cutscene is currently not complete, some voice lines are missing, and the scene can be changed at any time before the release of Patch 7.3.5!
What do you think of the cutscene?
