There is finally hope again for the Night Elves in World of Warcraft. Will they soon have a new home?
Patch 9.2.5 of World of Warcraft is live and brings along a few small innovations. The nice thing is that there is a small but fine conclusion for many of the storylines – including for the Night Elves and Tyrande. A short quest takes players back to Ardenweald to witness a ritual. There is a short cutscene involved.
What is to be seen? The sequence shows a conversation between High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and the Winter Queen, the ruler of Ardenweald. It is mainly about Tyrande having overcome her anger and finally feeling hope again. This very decision has also led to a “torn bond between sisters” being healed – the bond between the Winter Queen and Elune.
More interestingly, the Winter Queen takes a large tear from Elune. The souls of countless Night Elves manifest and sacrifice themselves to become part of this tear, which then transforms into a large seed. This seed is subsequently handed over to Tyrande and represents the “cycle of death and life”.
What happens next? Even after the sequence, the characters continue to converse a bit about the incident. Tyrande asks if that could really be a seed and if it is what she thinks it is. Ysera confirms this, and they both conclude that this seed must be protected until it can take root. Then Ysera explains:
I know a place where it can be protected, but … it has been so long …
Take the seed to my daughter. Merithra will know where it needs to go.
This might be a first small hint at the upcoming expansion “Dragonflight”. Because the primordial land of the dragons may turn out to be a good safe space for the seed, where the green dragons can watch over it until it can eventually grow into a tree.
What does this mean for the Night Elves? Thus, for the Night Elves there is hope for a new World Tree that will one day take the place of Teldrassil. When the druids and dragons unite their powers once more, this could happen within a few years – after all, the original Teldrassil was also created within just a few years.
The video thus provides a preliminary conclusion for Tyrande’s quest for vengeance and redemption for her people. Furthermore, it ends with the hope for a new beginning.
