In World of Warcraft The War Within, you need a “Philosopher’s Stone” for alchemy. We reveal how you can easily obtain it.
Professions play a significant role in World of Warcraft, especially in the new expansion The War Within. While you can practice most professions exclusively with new materials, alchemy is a special case here. For some recipes, you need a so-called “Philosopher’s Stone”. We will show you how to get this stone.
Crafting the Philosopher’s Stone in The War Within
What do you need a Philosopher’s Stone for? A Philosopher’s Stone is necessary for alchemy in World of Warcraft. You can create most potions, flasks, and vials without the stone, but it is essential for transmutations and thaumaturgy.
The problem: Crafting the “current” Philosopher’s Stone is quite expensive and consumes valuable materials that you cannot acquire quickly.
But there is a cost-effective alternative: A Philosopher’s Stone from an old addon.
How do you obtain a Philosopher’s Stone? Even though there are many versions of the Philosopher’s Stone, you get the cheapest variant by a long shot in the expansion “Mists of Pandaria”. Just travel to Pandaria, find an alchemy trainer, and learn the alchemy profession of that continent. It’s possible with the Klaxxi in the Dread Wastes at coordinates 53/31. Make sure to also learn the recipe “Meditative Alchemist Stone” (“Zen Alchemist Stone”).
The recipe only costs you 3 Golden Lotus. You can buy these at a very low price in the auction house.
Now craft the “Meditative Alchemist Stone” – and keep it in your inventory. You can use it for all future transmutations, including the new ones from “The War Within”!
What else should you consider? Some players report that the transmutation in The War Within has several bugs. New recipes are rarely learned – or in some cases never – in this way. If this is also the case for you, it’s better to be patient rather than sacrificing hundreds or thousands of items in transmutation. A fix for the bug or clarification about the feature will surely come from Blizzard in the next few days.
If you’re a newcomer or returning player, you should take a closer look at these 3 classes.
