The Pandaren Doubleagent from WoW is back in action. Without leaving the starting area, he has already reached level 112.
Every year we report on a truly extraordinary player in World of Warcraft who levels significantly slower than all other players. It’s about Doubleagent, a Pandaren on the Mannoroth server, who only gains experience points in a very special way – by collecting resources.
Who is Doubleagent? Doubleagent is a Pandaren player who refused to choose a faction at the end of the Pandaren starting area. So he decided to never choose and remain forever on the turtle – without a faction. He is thus a “neutral player” and cannot leave the island.
Resources grant minimal XP: The herbs and ores in the starting area give very little experience points, usually in the double digits XP range. Since a level requires well over 800,000 experience points beyond level 110, he has to pick several tens of thousands of herbs per level up. There have been no quests for him on the island for a long time. His heirlooms currently provide no advantage either. They lose their effect at level 110.
Distraction through series: Since this playstyle can become quite monotonous, Doubleagent usually distracts himself with TV series or other things he watches on a second monitor. For him, it has almost a meditative quality.
A community legend: In the community, Doubleagent is now considered a living legend, and even Blizzard has taken notice of this special Pandaren. If you play a monk, you might occasionally see a Pandaren flitting from ore to ore. A small tribute to this extraordinary achievement.
There will probably be an end to this action in a few weeks when Doubleagent finally reaches level 120 after countless herbs and ores. And then he will wait. For the next expansion…
What do you think of Doubleagent and his unusual playstyle? A total waste of life or an extreme willpower?
