At level 20, you have no chance against players at level 120 in World of Warcraft. Or do you? This Frost Mage just takes them all apart.
The character level is a big deal in World of Warcraft. Typically, a player with a high level is overwhelmingly superior to a character with a low level. However, thanks to PvP scaling, there are some crazy effects. It is even possible for a character at level 20 to take down a colleague at level 120 in just a few seconds.
What happened? In his latest video, Rextroy has a little helper with him, namely a Frost Mage. This is a freshly created Void Elf, who – like all Allied Races – starts at level 20. Horde characters should only smile wearily at the threat, because it usually takes several minutes for a character at level 20 to defeat an enemy at level 120. Often it is even impossible because the hero at level 120 heals so drastically through passive effects that he cannot die.
But not in this case. In the following video, you can see how the little heroine at level 20 takes on enemies at level 120 and takes them apart. Poorly geared players die almost instantly, well-equipped players can hold out for a few seconds.
How does it work? The trick is, as has been shown in many previous videos, the peculiar PvP scaling in World of Warcraft. This ensures that weak characters receive a boost. By combining various effects, however, this can be maximized to an absurd degree.
- A friend (in this case, Rextroy) needs to have the “Unite and Stand” ability in his Azerite armor. This significantly increases the primary attribute of nearby teammates when the effect is triggered.
- The trinket Mr. Greed from Drustvar. This increases a teammate’s haste by 990 for 15 seconds. For a level 20 character, that means 300% haste.
- Low-level gear for level 20 that brings him to 16% versatility.
- The talent “Lonely Winter” increases damage by an additional 25%.
The Frost Mage thus reaches nearly 8,000% bonus damage. Frostbolt has a casting time of only 0.75 seconds – that’s nearly as much as the global cooldown, allowing it to be “spammed” indefinitely.
All together, this causes about 200,000 DPS to players at level 120. It only takes a few seconds to take down characters.
Does this work with all classes? No. The scaling seems to vary with all classes and abilities. Rextroy has only achieved such reliable results with the Frost Mage, as the Frostbolt and Blizzard showed the best results here. It remains to be seen how long this possibility will last – as Blizzard surely didn’t intend it this way.
What do you think of these and Rextroy’s other videos, in which he takes down about 20 players at once? Cool, what he discovers? Or is this clear exploiting of bugs?
