In WoW, Blizzard has temporarily disabled the coin system.
As community manager Ornyx announced last night, there are “brief technical issues” in the WoW coin system. Therefore, the system has been temporarily disabled in America, Oceania, and Europe.
Blizzard aims to restore the system as quickly as possible. There is no further information available.
This probably only affects the purchase of new coins. Already purchased coins in players’ inventories should continue to function.
The pensions are indeed safe. Phew!
The coin can be traded in-game, but can also be exchanged for 30 days of playtime. It is “generated” when players purchase it from Blizzard for real money. Through this system, it is indirectly possible to exchange in-game currency for playtime, a concept that became popular through EVE Online:
