The demo for WoW Classic is starting soon. But those who want to play for a long time are out of luck – after just 60 minutes, the fun ends for now.
Today (November 2, 2018), BlizzCon 2018 starts. At Blizzard’s trade fair, there is plenty of new information about World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, as well as “WoW: Classic”.
Those who have purchased a Virtual Ticket for BlizzCon can check out the demo of WoW: Classic and get a first impression of the “Vanilla” version.
However, there are harsh restrictions on how long you can play. After just one hour, the fun comes to a sudden end.
How does the time limit work? The time limit for the demo of WoW: Classic is quite simple. As soon as you log in, you can play for 60 minutes before being disconnected from the game – then you have to wait for 30 minutes. If a total of 90 minutes has passed (since the first login), you can play for another 60 minutes.
A few examples illustrate this:
- If you play for 30 minutes, then are offline for 60 minutes, you have another fresh 60 minutes available.
- If you play directly for 60 minutes, you will be disconnected from the game and must wait for 30 minutes before you can play for another 60 minutes.
- If you play for 20 minutes, then are offline for 20 minutes, you can still play for 40 minutes before you need to wait for 10 minutes.
This all sounds a bit complicated but can be summarized in one sentence: Per 90 minutes, you can play for 60 minutes.
Why are there restrictions? WoW: Classic did not yet have “phasing” technology, and there was no sharding either. As a result, the areas quickly became overcrowded, and depending on the influx and the available server capacity, playing would be less enjoyable.
Will the restrictions be relaxed? Blizzard will maintain these restrictions at the start and then, if the influx decreases, will relax them somewhat. So it may be that after the first few hours, you can play longer again.
Are you looking forward to the demo of World of Warcraft: Classic? Or are you waiting for the full release?
