Due to overcrowded servers in WoW Classic, Blizzard has now announced that some of them will receive a free character transfer. However, the selection in Germany is quite limited. Fans express joy, but also criticism.
Which servers are allowed to transfer? In a post in the official WoW Classic forums, community manager Toschayju explained that free character transfers from the Lucifron server to one of the new servers, Transcendence, will soon be available.
Both are PvP servers. Lucifron is one of the first two realms planned for WoW Classic in Germany, before two more were opened at launch and another four after launch. Lucifron is also plagued by the largest queues.
How can I transfer? In a previous post, Toschayju explained how to carry out a transfer. The respective option should appear in the character selection screen or in the queue. However, there are some prerequisites for the transfer:
- You must not be a guild master.
- Your mailbox must not contain any unread messages.
- You must have no ongoing auctions in the auction house.
If none of this applies to you, you can transfer from Lucifron to Transcendence. When exactly the transfer will be opened is yet to be announced.
Joy and Criticism from the Fans
This pleases the players: The initial reactions to Toschayju’s post are positive. It is praised that something is being done to address the waiting times. User Finkregh responds with a simple:
Finally something is happening.
Players are happy that something is being done to reduce waiting times. The choice of server is also seen as good, as Everlook, for example, is also full, but the queue is manageable. However, there are also many points of criticism.
This is what players criticize: With the free transfers, many players see several problems looming.
- Some players wish they could choose servers to play with friends – for example, through paid transfers.
- Concerns are raised about whether this will really ease the queues, especially since most German servers are quite “full”.
- Other servers with similarly high waiting times of over an hour are not taken into account.
User Nyel shares his concerns in detail:
This is exactly what should not have happened.
Transcendence is close to becoming “Full” in the evening. Lucifron has a queue of 6000-8000 players. Even if only 2000 players transfer, this transfer will turn Transcendence into a second Venoxis.
How can one act so thoughtlessly?
Nyel even created a topic about it, and Toschayju acknowledges the concerns, intending to pass them on to the developers.
Other players would prefer to see the opening of a new server for relief. However, this or other transfers are not yet planned. Additional servers for the Europe region were opened shortly after launch:
