The last raid “Naxxramas” in WoW Classic did not last long. After just 90 minutes, the fun was over for the final boss Kel’Thuzad.
While much attention is currently on the new WoW expansion Shadowlands, there was also a significant highlight in WoW Classic. As predicted by some streamers, this got a bit overshadowed by the Shadowlands hype. The final raid Naxxramas was launched and offered players some tough battles. It was thought that the raid would stand for a while before the first guilds could overcome Kel’Thuzad – but it turned out differently. After less than 1 ½ hours, Naxxramas was cleared and Kel’Thuzad was defeated.
Who got the World First? The winner of the race was the guild Progress, who lived up to their name. Just about 90 minutes after the opening of the Naxxramas raid, the achievement was accomplished and the final boss Kel’Thuzad was defeated.
Interestingly, the composition of their group is notable. With a full 18 warriors, almost half of the raid consists of this class. Other classes were represented less frequently – there were only two hunters and a single druid. You can see the moment of the kill in this video:
How did they do it? Unlike many other raids, the guild Progress tackled the most difficult wing of the raid first and defeated the 4 horsemen first. This allowed them to utilize some buffs from the Darkmoon Faire that some of the raiders still had active. Other guilds tried to tackle the easier quarters first, which left them without the special world buffs for the toughest fights in the end.
What’s next? How WoW Classic will progress is still not entirely clear. Although there are already rumors that WoW Classic will soon continue with the expansion “The Burning Crusade”, this has not yet been confirmed. It is likely that there will be an announcement about the future of Classic in February, when BlizzConline takes place. Blizzard wants to talk about new developments and upcoming games – surely the future of WoW Classic will also be a topic.
Did you think that Naxxramas would be cleared in less than 2 hours? Or did you think that Naxxramas would last for weeks?
Did you know that WoW Classic was more successful on Twitch than Shadowlands?
