A guild in WoW Classic is so hated that the whole realm has united. They ruined the Scarab Lord and the rarest mount in the game.
It’s time again for one of those stories that players can only experience in World of Warcraft Classic. Because right now the gates of Ahn’Qiraj are being opened. However, on one server, many players have chosen not to participate live in the opening. Instead, they spent the entire day ruining another guild’s reward.
What happened? On the realm Sulfuras, a large portion of all players came together to ruin the “big day” for a single guild. Well over 150 players gathered in the Tanaris area and ensured that the dragon “Anachronos” was kept in combat permanently so that players could not speak to him or interact with him in any other way. For over 10 hours, they fought against the dragon and kept their eyes on him the entire time.
Anachronos is not just an enemy dragon, but also an important quest giver for the quest line surrounding Ahn’Qiraj.
The players even sacrificed their chance to be part of the 10-hour event in Silithus, just to ensure that Anachronos was never taken out of combat. They preferred to miss out on this unique event just to deny another guild the mount.
Why was this done? The reason lies in recent events. The guild <GRIZZLY> had reported a player from another guild through the report system a few days ago. This reported player was the chosen Scarab Lord of another guild and was currently completing an important part of the quest line.
After GRIZZLY was unable to stop the other guild through PvP and troll methods, they reported the respective player, who then received an automatic 7-day ban. The reports were unjustified and merely aimed at getting that player banned.
The issue blew up in the WoW Classic subreddit and led to the entire realm uniting – against GRIZZLY.
15 years waiting – for nothing
What does this mean now? For the members of GRIZZLY, this is particularly bitter. They have collected almost 98% of the war supplies on both sides of the realm. These were thousands of items that all players of the realm had to donate to even initiate the opening event.
So GRIZZLY did a significant part of the groundwork but was then unable to reap the final reward, the Black Qiraji Battle Tank. Until the end of the event, this reward was denied to them by the entire realm. 15 years of waiting have therefore not paid off.
After the first player has completed the quest, there are still 10 hours left for all other players to do the same. However, the other Sulfuras players stayed the course during this time to ensure that GRIZZLY would not receive their reward.
Or to put it in the words of many in the WoW subreddit: “Karma is a bitch.”
