Will the WoW beta “The Burning Crusade” in the Classic version start soon? A small update gives hope.
The time for the “new content” of World of Warcraft Classic seems to be coming to an end. After all, Naxxramas is already being tested on the PTR, and that is the last major raid that will conclude the Classic era. But now there is a new glimmer of hope that the first expansion, “The Burning Crusade,” is not so far away.
What happened? As reported by wowhead, the “Classic Beta Client” was found again in the code of the Battle.net app. It was reinserted into the files with the last patch. Although it has the suffix “Deprecated,” meaning “outdated” or “obsolete,” the fact that it can be found again in the client raises speculations. Presumably, the client will soon be updated and a new version of the beta will be released.

In this regard, not many WoW variants are actually considered, except The Burning Crusade. It was the first expansion of World of Warcraft, and it is still very popular with many fans. The likelihood of a beta test starting here is quite high. After all, Blizzard had already wanted to know in a survey whether players were interested in The Burning Crusade.
Probably no overlap with Shadowlands: So far, Blizzard mostly ensures that there are no significant temporal overlaps between the two WoW games (i.e., Retail and Classic). It therefore seems rather unlikely that the beta could start in the next few days, especially since the release of Shadowlands is expected soon – which is still awaiting a date.
A first hint in the Battle.net launcher at least suggests that preparations are already being made in the background, and perhaps an internal beta will be starting soon.
When will there be more info? Concrete information should be available at the latest in February. Because then the digital replacement fair for BlizzCon will take place. Since the original BlizzCon 2020 was postponed due to the Corona pandemic, a “BlizzConline” will take place instead, which is intended to inform players about new developments and upcoming games. This would be the perfect time to announce a “The Burning Crusade Classic.” Then Classic could already be released in mid-2021…
Would you be interested in experiencing The Burning Crusade once again? Or is the basic WoW game in the Classic version enough for you?
