Blizzard has promised that with WoW Classic, they will do some things differently than 12 years ago: Players should be able to become overpowered. However, they underestimated what that would look like in reality: By exploiting a “Hyperspawn” and a new upgrade system for equipment, individual players in the MMORPG became so powerful after just a few hours that they could defeat raid bosses alone.
How powerful did players become in WoW? On the reddit forum, posts are circulating on Pentecost Sunday, and on YouTube, you can see videos where individual players deal incredibly high damage in WoW and are practically invincible, while the rest of their raids “play normally”:
- For example, the monk Xastralts deals 2.74 million damage in a screenshot – 10 times more than the second place in the raid (via reddit).
- The shadow priest Pibottwo even achieves 20 times more damage than the second place in his raid in a video by Twitch streamer Asmongold.
- The night elf priest can even defeat a raid boss alone at level 70 when the rest of his raid is dead, earning the major achievements. Twitch streamer Asmongold comments: “The guy – he has beaten the game.”
A new upgrade system is completely out of control for Blizzard
How did players become so powerful? In WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria Remix, a system was introduced that did not exist in the original Mists of Pandaria, which was released in September 2012:
- You can strengthen your items through “Bronze”
- The idea is that every activity in WoW Classic provides players with something and makes them better.
- However, this system could be exploited by clever players, and they did exactly that.
Players exploit “Hyperspawn” frogs to become extremely powerful very quickly
That was the problem: In Mists of Pandaria 12 years ago, there were so-called “Hyperspawns”, areas where killing a mob inevitably led to the appearance of a new mob.
This allowed players with area abilities to kill a large number of mobs in a short time, allowing them to level up quickly.
This spot became known as “frogs”, a spawn in the Timeless Isles – precisely because the corresponding mobs are frogs.
Even today, this spot is once again in WoW since Mists of Pandaria went live in the new version.
As wowhead reports, players were able to farm “Lesser Charms of Good Fortune” in Mists of Pandaria Remix 2024, which they could then exchange for bronze and upgrade their equipment so quickly that they could effectively clear the raids solo.
This is the consequence: With the new bronze system, individual players were able, with the release of WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, to farm these “frogs” extremely, collect bronze, upgrade their items to a level that Blizzard apparently did not foresee so quickly, and then become all-powerful gods in the game.
According to reports from players on reddit, some WoW players exploited the spawn excessively for many hours before they then went into raids with their guilds and suddenly dealt 10 times more damage than anyone else.

Blizzard nerfs the mega spawn
This is how Blizzard reacts: After individual players with extremely high damage values in the raids drew attention, Blizzard has now nerfed the “Frog Farm” in WoW Remix on Sunday morning, where the necessary loot for item upgrades is no longer dropping.
While there is still bronze there, the Lesser Charms necessary for the exploit no longer drop.
Players are jealous of the few who pulled it off
This is the reaction: Players in the forums are now angry that they missed the chance to become all-powerful themselves and are demanding that Blizzard increase the drop rates everywhere else tenfold so they can catch up to what the few who exploited the “frogs” have achieved: They also want to become all-powerful and complete WoW.
Those who did not use the spawn are at a “significant disadvantage,” it is said in the forums.
