On February 22, 2026, the first raid of the Twitch guild Sauercrowd will take place. MyMMO editor and Vanilla WoW veteran Karsten Scholz knows the Molten Core and presents you with the greatest dangers.
The first time I stood in the Molten Core, my rogue was not yet level 60, and my guild Godmode had not yet looted a boss. That was almost 21 years ago. It took several weeks before the final boss Ragnaros was finally defeated and lay on the floor. After that, we farmed MC, which is the abbreviation for Molten Core, for months.
In WoW Classic, everything went much faster in 2019. Thanks to prior knowledge, we cleared the raid instance in the first week. After that, we started to push even harder to take down the various bosses as quickly as possible with World Buffs and co. That was fun in a way, but it was a completely different experience than in Vanilla.
So I know the Molten Core quite well and therefore know: The mechanics you need to internalize are manageable. The difficulty level is relatively low. However, even experienced raids can lose characters at any time. Normally, this is not a problem: revive and continue!
In WoW Classic Hardcore, however, this means the end of a long journey each time. Accordingly, the roster of the first Sauercrowd raid is set up defensively, with 12 healers, 4 warlocks and an experienced raid leadership comprising Falgan and HandOfBlood.
What potential dangers the streamer guild should definitely prepare for, I summarize for you below. Via the table of contents, you can jump directly to the sections that interest you:

2 Bridges, Hot Lava, Deadly Patrols
The first trash groups are not a problem if you pull carefully, pay attention to patrols, tank enemies like the core hounds away from the raid, remove annoying debuffs, and do not let the lava wogs throw you into the depths.
It becomes really dangerous, as experience shows, when you keep left at the first fork to reach the bosses Lucifron and Magmadar.
You have to cross several narrow passages of bridges that lead over hot lava. In the seemingly safe cave, patrolling lava wogs and groups of numerous fire elementals await.
- Danger Number 1: You pull multiple groups of elementals and the patrol simultaneously.
- Danger Number 2: Someone gets thrown into the lava by the charging lava wog.
Solution: The entire raid huddles directly against the wall at the cave entrance. One player pulls the first fire elemental groups and lava wogs to the raid one by one. If someone does fall into the lava, do not panic. Heal the affected player until they have jumped to safety. After the fight, a port by warlocks is also possible.
