AFK players in battlegrounds of WoW Classic have been banned. They complained about it – but there is overwhelming evidence from everyday life.
In the pre-patch of WoW WotLK Classic, there was quite a stir a few days ago. Numerous players were banned for not participating properly in battlegrounds. Even though many bans were lifted, Blizzard later stated that you can receive a penalty for defending a tower if you act against the will of the group. The outcry was loud and not only led to understanding among teammates, many also said:
You all know very well that you are actually AFK in the tower and doing something else. A clip serves as anecdotal evidence – representative.
What is the problem? In the Alterac Valley of World of Warcraft, one of the large battlegrounds that is good for farming honor and experience points, there are several mission objectives. Even though the primary goal is to defeat the enemy NPC boss, there are some secondary objectives, such as capturing and defending towers and bunkers – because they strengthen the respective boss as long as he lives.
While some characters sincerely want to defend these towers, they also provide a convenient excuse for others: You can simply stand AFK in a tower and then claim that you were defending.
Rogue shows how “well” players defend: Proving that the defenders are AFK is usually very difficult from a distance. However, the opposing side can prove it quite easily, such as in the form of the rogue Rams. She showed a clip in the WoW Classic subreddit of how she calmly recaptured an Alliance bunker while a solid 10 enemy players were “protecting” it.
No defender reacts to the recapture, so the bunker returns to the possession of the Alliance.
