In WoW WotLK Classic you have to choose between the Wildheart tribe and the Oracles – we’ll reveal what the reputation factions offer and how to farm for them.
In World of Warcraft, there are comparatively few decisions a hero can make. However, one of those comes in Wrath of the Lich King Classic as you quest through the Sholazar Basin. There, you will be confronted by two rival factions, the Wolvar from the Wildheart tribe and the Gorlocs, who call themselves “the Oracles.”
Throughout a quest, you must decide which of the two factions you want to help – and this affects your rewards and daily missions.
This is how you start the quest chain for the Oracles and the Wildheart Tribe
The quest chain begins in the middle of the Sholazar Basin with the human woman Tamara Wackelspross. Starting at level 76, she grants you the quest “Part-Time Hunter,” for which you must slay the lion named “Pech.” You can find him a little south of the quest giver.
Once you have killed Pech, do not return immediately, but talk to the Wolvar “Trailblazer Gekgek,” whom you have incidentally saved. He will now consider you his slave and wants you to stand by his side.
The quest chain becomes very linear from there. Just follow the trailblazer from mission to mission. You will first complete several quests for the Wildheart tribe before later landing with the Oracles due to an accident and doing similar missions for them.
At the end of the quest chain, a decision awaits. You must choose whether to join the Oracles or the Wildheart tribe. This decision can be changed later, but be aware that you will lose reputation with the faction you then spurn.
Therefore, it is worth collecting all rewards from one side before switching to the other. Which side you start with is entirely up to you.
Switching between the Oracles and the Wildheart Tribe: A Hero’s Burden
If you are fed up with one faction and would rather work on the reputation for the other faction, that’s always possible. The quest “A Hero’s Burden” can be repeated infinitely. The primary objective of the quest is to kill “Artruis the Heartless,” but during the fight, you must make a decision. You can either kill a Wolvar or a Gorloc.
- If you kill the Gorloc Jaloot, you will be friendly with the Wildheart tribe and hostile with the Oracles.
- If you kill the Wolvar Zepic, you will be friendly with the Oracles and hostile with the Wildheart tribe.
You can complete this quest once daily, allowing you to switch factions at most once per day.
However, be careful not to accidentally complete this quest – otherwise, you ruin the progress you may have built up over days or weeks with the Oracles or Wildhearts.
There is a lot to discover in Northrend:
How to farm reputation afterwards?
If you chose the Gorlocs or Wolvar during the quest “A Hero’s Burden,” simply return to the respective camp of your chosen faction. From now on, you can accept a handful of daily missions there each day to gain reputation.
You generally won’t feel much time pressure, as both factions do not offer any necessarily essential rewards. They are more of a nice diversion with fun items like pets, transformations, or a rare mount as possible rewards.
What does reputation with the Wildheart tribe bring? The Wildhearts have a plethora of different rewards. These range from solid blue gear to fun little items.
- Pattern: Bold Large Citrine (friendly): A socket recipe for jewelcrafters. Increases spell power and haste rating.
- Gross Bottle (respectful): A strange brew that must mature for about a week. It then contains potions or a mix that temporarily transforms you into a Wolvar.
- Wildheart Insignia of Wrath (exalted): An epic trinket that significantly increases your haste rating and enters a berserk state when killing an enemy, temporarily increasing your critical strike chance.
What does reputation with the Oracles bring? There is also a reputation vendor with the Oracles who has a whole range of items. Besides rather trivial items like some food or temporary buffs in Sholazar Basin, there are also some highlights:
- Pattern: Clear Jade (friendly): A socket recipe for jewelcrafters. Increases hit rating and stamina.
- Mysterious Egg (respectful): The egg hatches after about a week (real time). It can contain multiple pets, but also the very rare flying mount “Green Proto-Drake.”
- Oracle Talisman of Absolution (exalted): An epic trinket that significantly increases your critical strike chance and regenerates your resources (mana, energy, runic power or rage) when killing an enemy.
In general, the green proto-drake counts as one of the best rewards available from these factions. So you will likely want to focus on your reputation with the Oracles – at least until you are lucky enough to hatch the proto-drake from an egg.
Which faction will you choose in the Sholazar Basin? Are you a friend of the Gorlocs? Or are you more into the Wolvar?
