Blizzard is cracking down in World of Warcraft. The first multiboxers have been banned and their accounts closed.
Few things in World of Warcraft are as annoying as bots or multiboxers. Blizzard has recognized this after many years and has significantly restricted multiboxing and subjected it to new rules a few weeks ago. Those who do not comply with the rules must expect penalties – these have now finally been enforced.
What did Blizzard announce? A few weeks ago, Blizzard announced that they would take aggressive action against multiboxing – at least when multiboxers use certain software. All software that transmits inputs to multiple clients simultaneously has been banned.
Manual multiboxing, that is, actually playing multiple accounts without additional software, is still allowed. But this is of course uninteresting for farmers, as it is not as efficient for resource gathering.
The announcement of a ban was quite well received by you.
Why has multiboxing been so popular? Only a small percentage of players have devoted themselves to multiboxing. Often these are druids who scour an entire area with 5 or 10 characters simultaneously to gather resources or to earn money by farming mobs in certain spots.
For “normal” players with only one account, this was unfair since herbs and ores immediately disappeared after the multiboxer had “farmed” them.
Multiboxing was also popular in WoW Classic, for instance, to continuously clear certain dungeons.
First bans confirmed: In the Subreddit of WoW Classic, a first affected individual has shown that Blizzard is apparently enforcing the penalties. In the subreddit, the user LetMeSpoilThisForU posted a screenshot from the Discord server of the Earthshrine server (EU). In it, you can see 8 accounts of a known multiboxer that have now been banned. Overall, the player has apparently lost all 20 of their accounts, and the penalty is permanent.
If anyone was doubting whether Blizzard takes the multiboxing policy change seriously… from r/classicwow
This is currently generating new hope in the forums that Blizzard will enforce these rules more strictly and that, for the launch of Shadowlands, as well as Classic, there will be less trouble from multiboxers and bots using such software.
Do you also know a multiboxer who can no longer follow their usual routine or has even been banned?
However, something else will also no longer exist in Shadowlands – one of the best items.
