Blizzard has posted jobs for WoW Classic, but some suitable candidates are still hesitant to apply.
Blizzard announced at BlizzCon that they will provide official Classic servers for WoW. This is a colossal task. To ensure that the “regular WoW” does not suffer from the diversion of many resources, Blizzard intends to form a new team to take care of the “Back to the Past” servers.

Job openings for “Classic WoW” have now appeared on Blizzard’s career site. They are looking for a Software Engineer.
Candidates should be familiar with C++ and World of Warcraft, have programming experience, and ideally be passionate about the idea of Classic WoW.
Ironically, the most suitable candidates for the job are still hesitating to apply.
Before there were official servers, programmers had already turned to “unofficial” private servers with WoW Classic – projects like Nostalrius. They have spoken with the US site Kotaku.
Many there enthusiastically received Blizzard’s announcement to release official Classic servers. One even admits that he broke down in tears when the announcement came.

Classic specialist Namreeb, who has been working on private servers for 8 years, tells Kotaku that he has faced the exact problems that Blizzard is now struggling with when trying to port the old WoW into the present. Of course, he is interested in the job at Blizzard, and he knows some other Classic specialists who could definitely help Blizzard with their tasks.
However, they are still hesitant to apply to Blizzard for the new jobs. The problem: “We would really like to know if we will be sued if we outline our job experiences with Classic WoW in the cover letter.“
Blizzard has taken legal action against private servers in the past.
