Before release, some fans feared that the development of other Blizzard games would suffer due to WoW Classic. Other games are indeed suffering now, but curiously, for entirely different reasons.
What is Factorio? Factorio is a construction strategy game from the indie developer Wube Software. In the simulation, you build your own factory on a planet and ensure that you can continue to evolve and expand everything.
Factorio is currently in Early Access on Steam and is continuously being developed. The reviews are “extremely positive” (98% positive based on over 43,000 reviews). Mods from players are also particularly popular.
This is how the development of Factorio is being slowed down: The studio currently has the problem that they are lacking developers. Since the release of WoW Classic, some team members have taken leave.
In a post on Steam, the remaining developers explained that the vacationers have taken time off to dive back into Azeroth. Unfortunately, this is a very inconvenient time, as new bugs are emerging all the time.
A particular bug involves signals that regulate the rail network in Factorio and are responsible for distributing raw materials. Unfortunately, that specific bug cannot be fixed right now:
We want to fix these bugs before a new (stable) release appears. But it turns out that the only person with the skills to fix these specific signal bugs is currently busy leveling their priest…
Errors that the studio can fix without the help of the vacationers are already being addressed. The next release will be postponed until everything is finished.
The allure of WoW Classic
What do people actually find so appealing? WoW Classic has managed to bring back many veterans from “back in the day” since its release. The new old game mainly attracts with its role-playing factor. Cortyn aptly described it as: Classic is the better fantasy world, but Retail is the better game.
Classic seems to appeal to MMORPG fans so well that even Retail players had to say: “We were wrong, Classic is really good.” And it seems that this applies not only to WoW players but also to Factorio developers. And also to some mayors:
