In WoW Classic, patch 1.13.7 is coming. This changes a lot, especially for PvP enthusiasts, but there are also new features in PvE that you should be aware of.
In World of Warcraft Classic, the wait for the announcement of “The Burning Crusade Classic” has begun. However, Blizzard apparently has something else in mind first. A new PTR is testing patch 1.13.7. This currently contains only one change, but it is significant. This fundamentally changes how spells and abilities are handled in WoW Classic.
What will be changed? Blizzard is temporarily changing the delay for so-called “Spell Batching” from 400 milliseconds to 10 milliseconds. Anyone who wants to experience this change for themselves can try it out on the PTR and see how it feels.
What is Spell Batching? In WoW, “Spell Batching” refers to the simultaneous handling of multiple abilities that are executed at different times. This reduces server load and allows for smoother gameplay; however, it can also lead to overlaps.
Currently, there is a Spell Batching of 400ms in WoW Classic. This means that all spells and abilities that are completed within 0.4 seconds are treated by the server as if they are happening simultaneously. For example, two mages can turn each other into sheep, or a warrior can charge and stun a mage, but at the same time, he is turned into a sheep by the mage.
This value will be reduced to 10ms.
What does the change mean? In plain language, this means that abilities with a time delay will no longer be grouped together, and there will be many more intervals in which abilities can be used. This is especially interesting in PvP, where quick reactions are crucial, and a time window of 0.4 seconds is considered far too large.
Why is Blizzard doing this? It is not clearly stated why Blizzard is testing and wants to implement this change now. However, it is certain that Blizzard first wants to find out whether this change is compatible with WoW Classic and whether all abilities function correctly or if there are errors.
Many fans hope that Blizzard is making the first preparations for “The Burning Crusade Classic”. Because there, arena matches take place, and a Spell Batching of 400ms would be almost unthinkable.
Do you think this change is good and meaningful? Or should WoW Classic retain the increased values for Spell Batching until the end?
The supposed release date of “The Burning Crusade Classic” has already been leaked…
