There is finally new information about WoW: Classic! The developers have informed in an update about the state on which WoW: Classic will be released. The community is actively discussing it.
WoW: Classic will be playable on Patch 1.12: In an update, the developers of WoW: Classic talked about an important decision. The servers will be based on the last patch of Classic, Patch 1.12: The drums of war.
This is what Patch 1.12 for WoW Classic looks like
Since the announcement of the Classic servers, fans have been wondering about the patch state WoW: Classic will be in when it is officially (re)-released. The developers have now decided on Patch 1.12, as it represents the “most complete version of the Classic experience”.
All raids, the entire Classic content: Patch 1.12 was the last patch of WoW: Classic. With this state, the Classic servers will be able to offer everything World of Warcraft had during Classic times.
This also includes all the raids from that time. Both Ahn’qiraj and Naxxramas can be conquered again. However, it is still unclear whether the quest lines for accessing the raids will remain. It is also unknown if the first players on the server to open Ahn’Qiraj will receive the rare and coveted black Qiraji Battle Tank.
Discussion about modern conveniences: Some of the features that are taken for granted by players today did not exist in Classic. Whether and how Blizzard plans to introduce them is still uncertain. The goal should be to create a good, modern experience for Classic, not just to simply resurface Classic.
The community is actively discussing the possible changes and whether they are desired for Classic. Some frequently mentioned points include:
- that Paladins were only playable for the Alliance in Classic, and Shamans only for the Horde
- that there were no “Battle Pets”
- and that things like Transmogrification and achievements did not exist.
Many Classic fans in the American forum are in favor of keeping it exactly that way. Classic should remain Classic.
What can you expect afterward? Patch 1.12 is currently the state on which WoW: Classic will run. Whether Blizzard will ever turn the servers into “The Burning Crusade” servers, or even release additional Classic patches remains to be seen.
