What about the first expansion of WoW Classic? Rumors are circulating – and they promise good things.
In World of Warcraft Classic, some players are complaining that Ahn’Qiraj is not open yet, while some are already waiting for the next big Naxxramas patch. However, the question of how things will proceed after the official Classic time frame lies further ahead. Will there be a “Burning Crusade Classic”? How will that work? More and more rumors are currently circulating.
What are these rumors? Nano, a former member of the Nostalrius team, the largest WoW private server that existed for a long time, spoke up on Twitter. He stated that he has heard new rumors. According to them…
- Naxxramas is supposed to be released early in December.
- The beta of “The Burning Crusade” is set to start in March/April 2021.
However, these rumors are not confirmed, as Nano does not provide any sources – presumably to protect them. Whether there is truth behind the news remains to be seen.
What would that mean? If the rumors prove true, players could expect a “The Burning Crusade Classic” as early as summer 2021 – so just under two years after the original release. That at least sounds like a realistic approach.
However, The Burning Crusade has not yet been announced. Initial surveys from Blizzard suggest that the developers are considering it and may already be in a planning phase.
What might a “Classic TBC” look like? That’s the interesting question. Because Blizzard would once again need to balance the different interests of the community. After all, not all WoW Classic players want to switch to The Burning Crusade, but prefer to remain in the old world. The two most likely options would be:
- A character copy to new “The Burning Crusade” servers. Here, you can play the expansion while the old realms and characters remain at the Classic state.
- All realms automatically become TBC servers. Those who do not want that can transfer to new realms that remain at the Classic state.
Ultimately, what comes remains to be seen. But with a bit of luck, we’ll learn more about it in early 2021. Because then Blizzard wants to make up for the BlizzCon with a digital event and will surely talk about the future of WoW Classic and its possible expansions.
