The famous raid boss Onyxia in WoW Classic has been defeated by only three players. They pumped themselves up with buffs and took her down in under an hour. This is a kind of World First, as no one has accomplished this in this way before.
What have the players achieved? Actually, the raid boss Onyxia is designed for a group of 40 players. However, some crazies manage without such large raids; they just do it with fewer people.
A group of four players had already defeated Onyxia before. The four took 56 minutes at that time.
Now a trio has accomplished it – and that in “only” about 47 minutes. We’ve embedded the video of their kill here:
How did the players manage that? Players Draven, Wuggreed, and Starly from the guild Midnight on the EU server Gandling gathered various buffs before plunging into the fight against Onyxia. These included things like:
- Crystals from Un’Goro that deal damage to attackers (for the tank)
- Explosive charges from the engineer for additional damage
- Crystals from Un’Goro that deal similar damage to the explosive charge
- plenty of mana items like demonic runes, especially for the healer
- in total, about 300 gold pieces were used for consumables – a lot of money for WoW Classic
The warrior of the group also used the famous legendary sword Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, which has a chance to deal additional damage to opponents on hit.
Onyxia in WoW Classic – Not so hard anymore?
Since the release of WoW Classic, there have been ongoing discussions that the bosses and raids are not as difficult as one remembers from back then. The dragon lady Onyxia has had to feel this several times. She has already been:
The actual kill with three people has already happened back in Vanilla, by the way. However, the players were wearing the best gear from Naxxramas, the last raid of Classic. In WoW Classic Naxxramas only comes in Phase 6, and Ahn’Qiraj has just recently been opened.
