PvP bots are rampant in WoW Classic. But you can really ruin their day – these players show how to do it.
Despite the ban wave from a few days ago, there are still plenty of bots in World of Warcraft Classic. Especially in PvP and on battlegrounds, this is annoying. These bots do not participate in the fight, but they take a lot of honor and occupy important spots. However, a group of players really ruined a botter’s day and destroyed all of his “work”.
What happened? Reddit user Lepantoe created a video discussing the current bot issue in WoW Classic. Especially in Alterac Valley, many players just stand around AFK or move automatically every few seconds to avoid getting kicked out of the battle. Furthermore, bots automatically accept invitations to the battleground – this is exactly what other players took advantage of.
They invited the bot to a group. Since the group invitation window appears in the same spot as the battleground invitation, the bot accepted the invitation. With a warlock, the bot was then teleported to Southshore – the bot accepted this teleport as well, since this window also appears in the same spot.
The players then started attacking and killing NPCs in Southshore – this caused them to accumulate “Notorious Murders”.
Why is this so genius? When characters are involved in killing innocent NPCs (like villagers), they accumulate “Notorious Murders”. This is then reflected in the PvP statistics and results in them receiving fewer rank points and likely dropping in rank. Exactly this happened to the “victim” of this strategy. Instead of ranking up through farming, he fell from rank 6 to rank 3.
Other players are also getting creative with bots and trapping them in dungeons.
A real player had to suffer for it: However, the whole action also has a catch. In order for the bot to gain the notorious murders, a player had to stay in the group with the bot and kill the NPCs. This player (the warrior in the video) also ruined his own statistics and honor level. The players were aware of this beforehand and considered it a sacrifice they were willing to make.
With this action, they ruined the bot’s “work” in just a few hours, undoing a whole week of AFK farming and even pulling it into negative.
Nonetheless, the video criticizes that Blizzard is doing too little against bots. The corresponding bot is still active today and was not caught by the ban wave.
