After almost 2 months, hope was actually buried, but now there is light at the end of the horizon. A German RP realm for WoW Classic has appeared.
Update (October 22, 7 PM): The new RP-PvE server Celebras has been officially confirmed in the forum. It will go live on Friday, October 25 at 1:00 AM. Free transfers from all German PvE realms will be offered:
- Everlook
- Lakeshire
- Razorfen
Original report: A large part of the German role players had already resigned themselves to the fact that there would be no RP realm in the German-speaking region in WoW Classic. Frustrated, most players had agreed on the realm Everlook and gathered there to simply engage in roleplay on a “normal” realm.
But now everything could change: An RP realm has appeared on the list!
What happened? Those who look at the realm list for German-speaking realms will find a new entry there since a few hours. A realm named “Celebras” with the addition “RP” is listed there, although it is still marked as “Offline”.
This is probably the result of months of complaints in the forum. Role players have been insisting on having their own realm since the launch, and the criticism regarding the lack of such has hardly diminished since then.
Will there be server transfers? Yes, free transfers will be available from the German PvE servers. This will be available starting on October 25 at 1:00 AM.
Otherwise, role players would have had to create entirely new characters, which could raise doubts among some role players about whether they should really dare to make the switch.
WoW has just lost its German Community Manager.
Why is the realm so important to role players? Roleplay largely thrives on immersion with the game world. On “normal” realms, there are always numerous players who do not care about roleplay and thus disturb the immersion. Only a few tavern evenings remain memorable when suddenly a mage named Xpówêrpáûlx jumps through the tavern and spams Blizzard or Arcane Explosions.
On roleplay realms, players mostly gather.
Cortyn says: Honestly, I am quite surprised that Blizzard is taking this step “so late” and offers a roleplay realm. This positively surprises me. The more I think about it, the better I find this late decision. Since the initial rush in Classic is over and most players have already settled into their realms, only “true” role players should be willing to switch to the new realm.
So it is quite possible that Celebras will become a true stronghold of RP.
