Although WoW Classic has evolved in recent months, the criticisms remain the same. Bots disrupt the gaming experience, sometimes massively.
World of Warcraft Classic has now been released for over half a year, and the servers are still well populated – except for an RP realm. However, despite a lot of changes and many “new” content pieces being released in the game, the players’ criticisms remain the same. Especially bots continue to be a major issue in Classic and drive players up the wall every few days.
What is the problem? Bots are present on almost all realms. They are not only farming instances, but have also taken over several locations in the open world. There, they take away the enemies from “real” players and have covered entire areas so heavily that a normal flow of gameplay is hardly imaginable.
Players repeatedly express their frustration about this in the official forum and in the WoW Classic subreddit. The latest post has topped the subreddit again.
What are the bots farming? The bots have specialized in numerous resources and special items that they automatically gather or collect.
- A popular farming spot is currently Desolace by the sea in the southwest. Here, there are crab traps that have a small chance of containing a special fishing rod. This can be sold for 15-25 gold (depending on realm).
- Elsewhere, Black Lotus is being farmed automatically – an important resource for raiders, as it is needed for flasks, the best potions in the game.
- In Winterquell, a lot is farmed by bots as well, especially cooking resources and materials for various quests.
What are the players criticizing? Players have two major criticisms they constantly throw at Blizzard. These are:
- “Blizzard does nothing”: Many players assume that Blizzard simply does not have the capacity in support staff to punish the bots. When Blizzard reacts, it is only in waves that are often very far apart. Often so far that bot operators have easily made enough money to pay for new accounts.
- “Reporting doesn’t help”: Although WoW Classic has an integrated function for reporting bots, players do not feel that this function does anything. They often see bots even weeks and months later, although many players have already reported them. The purpose of this function is questioned.
How do you perceive the current climate in WoW Classic? Do the bots bother you a lot and do you report them regularly? Or have you simply gotten used to the bots by now?
