In WoW Classic, the gates to the new dungeon Dire Maul have suddenly opened. Players can now fight through the mega dungeon and secure loot from the ogres living there.
When does Dire Maul open? The new dungeon has already been playable since today, October 15, at 7 PM, ahead of the originally planned release that was supposed to take place after maintenance works on Wednesday. You can visit all three wings of the mega dungeon starting now.
Where can I find Dire Maul? Dire Maul is an instance complex in the northern part of Feralas. Just follow the road and head towards the huge ruins in the north that stand there. The entrances are guarded by elite ogres.
Dire Maul has three entrances for its respective instances: East, North, and West. Each instance can be entered separately.
Why is Dire Maul open already? Originally, Dire Maul was supposed to open only with the second of the five phases of WoW Classic. However, the dungeon has been moved up. No specific reasons were mentioned, but it could be that the quick demise of Ragnaros and Onyxia led to players needing more content.
That’s why you should visit Dire Maul
What should I pay attention to? Dire Maul is the first mega dungeon that World of Warcraft has ever had. Anyone who wants to fully master the instance should plan for several hours and stock up on water, bread, and reagents before heading out.
Dire Maul is suitable for players starting at level 55 and thus is an “endgame” dungeon, even though it can be entered at level 48. However, it is recommended for damage dealers and tanks to be at level 57 or higher to be able to hit all enemies. The maximum group size is 10 players.
What can be found in the dungeon? In Dire Maul, you will find numerous gear pieces that will remain “Best in Slot” for many classes for quite a while. Among the special items you can find there are:
- The Tome “Summon Water (Rank 7)” for mages and other skill books
- Valuable recipes for tailors and leatherworkers
- New enchants
- Set pieces
- Epic weapons

Additionally, warlocks and paladins must visit Dire Maul to complete the questline for their epic class mounts. Only here can they complete the quests that grant them the new mounts.
How about you? Will you visit Dire Maul directly? Or are you already inside?
