The auction houses of WoW Classic are closing temporarily. If you still want to buy or sell something, you should hurry.
Big changes are coming soon to World of Warcraft Classic. The auction houses in all cities are closing, thus restricting trade. In preparation for the first expansion, players will have to rely on traditional trading – at least for a few days.
What will happen? All auction houses in World of Warcraft Classic will temporarily stop their services. You will not be able to sell your materials and weapons in the auction house, nor will you be able to purchase items for crafting or enchantments.
Instead, players will have to revert to old-fashioned trading and contact other players directly if they want to buy or sell goods among themselves.
When will this happen? The auction house will close on May 14 at 7:00 PM. Only about 5 days later, after the maintenance, the auction houses will be available again starting May 19.
Why is the auction house closing? WoW Classic is taking the step towards the first expansion Burning Crusade Classic in a few days. As a new addon is being implemented, the developers will create a “snapshot” of the player characters. This will allow players to clone their characters or move to a pure “Classic Era” realm.
Since items in the auction house technically still belong to the character, there will likely be a block of 4 days. After 3 days, all items will have been returned at the latest and will be in the mailbox, ensuring nothing goes missing.
So, if anyone wants to buy or sell items in the next few days, they should do it promptly. Because those who post items at the last moment are essentially throwing away their gold. After all, other players will no longer be able to access the auction house. The costs for posting items will not be refunded.
So plan ahead and stock up on everything you want to have before the big pre-patch.
