After hours of fighting against the new world boss in WoW Classic, the first players have finally defeated and looted him. Or at least tried. Because there is one item that the boss just won’t let go. It would probably be way too powerful.
What kind of weapon is this?
- The Bloodthirst Blade is a two-handed sword that you can find in the current Season of Discovery – Phase 2 in WoW Classic.
- The new world boss Kha’damu drops the sword. However, the fight against the boss is quite tough and requires hundreds of players.
- Even if you defeat the boss, you cannot get the Bloodthirst Blade: the sword may drop, but no one can loot it.
What makes the sword so special: The Bloodthirst Blade has a passive ability. The sword’s effect states: “Chance on Hit: Claim the promised soul.” However, no one can test what exactly this effect does.
Because the sword requires level 125 to wield. However, the maximum level in the Season of Discovery is level 40. And so far, there has never been a higher level than 120 in any expansion of World of Warcraft.
So even in retail, it would be impossible to wield the blade. Additionally, the Bloodthirst Blade has the property “Unique (0)”. So you wouldn’t even be able to wield it even with the level requirement.
And even here, there is another restriction. Because unlike all the other loot from Kha’damu, the blade cannot be looted at all. It is visible in the loot window, but no one can pick up the weapon (via X). All other loot items can be easily looted. Only the boss himself is allowed to wield his sword.
New world boss in WoW Classic occupies entire servers
Whether the weapon is intentionally not usable or not, we cannot say for sure right now. With +333 strength, it would be far too powerful for level 40 characters and could probably oneshot any opponent by itself.
It is likely just an Easter egg or something that is part of a larger mystery. Because merely seeing the weapon requires a rather absurd and daring action.
Kha’damu patrols through the Stranglethorn Vale and belongs to the Bloodmoon event, a new PvP event where you are supposed to collect bloody coins. The world boss himself is, fittingly, the Chosen One of the Bloodloas.
However, the fight against him is so hard that several guilds or even entire servers have sometimes teamed up with hundreds of players just to defeat him. Mainly because the rumor spread that he could drop the Bengal tiger. To investigate this, even Game Masters have helped out.
