The black lotus was a problem in World of Warcraft Classic. But now Blizzard is stepping in and changing several details of the popular herb.
In World of Warcraft Classic, there are some issues. Besides numerous bots that are not banned, many other things are not working as players remembered them. Especially the herb “Black Lotus” is causing trouble again and again, as it is firmly controlled by some players who dominate the market. Blizzard is now changing that with a few adjustments.
What was the problem? On almost all Classic realms, the Black Lotus has become an absolute luxury resource. Prices fluctuated in recent weeks between 100 gold and 300 gold pieces – a gigantic amount in World of Warcraft Classic. The Black Lotus is primarily needed for flasks, which are among the best buff potions available in the game.
Many bots and multiboxers practically established a “lotus mafia” and monitored all spawn points of the lotus. For regular players, it was nearly impossible to access this resource.
What is Blizzard changing? In a blue post on the official forum, the developers explained that there will be some changes to the Black Lotus. These mainly include:
- There will be many more spawn points for Black Lotus.
- The spawn rate of Black Lotus will be significantly increased, so it will appear more often.
In another hotfix, Blizzard is also ensuring that dead players can only see Black Lotus on the minimap if they have at least rank 300 in herbalism. Many farmers used dead level-1 characters to control the lotus spawns.
What are the effects? The mere announcement of this change has already led to a price drop of the Black Lotus on many realms. Several players report that the price on their realm fell from 300 gold to 50 gold – and that within a few hours.
How strong the effects of these changes will be in practice remains to be seen. However, the community on the subreddit has so far reacted positively to this change, even if it represents another deviation from the “original” Vanilla WoW.
What do you think of the adjustments to the Black Lotus?
