Almost an hour, two players worked on a boss in WoW: Classic. Instead of 40 players, they were just two.
In both WoW: Shadowlands and World of Warcraft Classic, there are always crazy records set by players. After a while, the dragon lady Onyxia was defeated by three people, and this has now been surpassed. Only two players participated and defeated the raid boss.
What happened? The two players Shiftus (Priest) and Gendisarray (Warrior) apparently did not want to defeat Onyxia with 40 people, so they took on the challenge just the two of them.
The warrior had to not only deal damage but also act as a tank at the same time. With a holy priest at his back, this was indeed feasible.
However, the entire fight took a while, almost an hour. With just under 57 minutes, the fight became a test of patience – not only for the players but also for Onyxia, who is usually accustomed to shorter fights.
What’s so special about it? Actually, Onyxia is a boss designed for 40 players. However, the mechanics of the fight are not particularly complicated, which is why it can also be mastered with fewer players. But the fewer players participating, the longer the fight drags on. Since Onyxia has no enrage timer, there is no limit to how long the fight can last. Only the players’ resources – such as mana – could become a problem.
So many resources were needed: It is also astonishing how many potions and items were used in the fight. The priest alone probably spent several hundred gold – depending on the costs on his realm – because he consumed:
- 23x Major Mana Potion
- 21x Demonic Rune
- 3x Elixir of Restoration
- 2x Flask of Distilled Wisdom
- 2x Flasks of Petrification
But the warrior Gendisarray also didn’t hold back and spent a lot:
- 13x Mageblood Potion
- 10x Whipper Root Tuber
- 9x Greater Stoneshield Potion
- 4x Elemental Sharpening Stone
- 1x Elixir of the Mongoose
The two players didn’t gain any gameplay benefit from the kill. Neither needed loot from the boss; it was solely about the challenge of surviving the fight – with the smallest possible group.
