“The Deaths of Chromie” is the new scenario in World of Warcraft with patch 7.2.5. But how does it work exactly? What do you need to consider? Our WoW Chromie Guide provides a starting point.
With patch 7.2.5 for World of Warcraft, there is a small but exciting piece of content that delights players: the scenario “The Deaths of Chromie“. However, those who have already taken a look into the scenario may have quickly felt overwhelmed. What do you need to consider? How should you proceed? We provide a brief guide with an overview and help on how to tackle the initial hurdles.
Khadgar in Dalaran opens the quest for “The Deaths of Chromie”
Preparation: The necessary quest “Chromie” starts with Khadgar in Dalaran and sends you directly to the Wyrmrest Temple in Northrend. The corresponding portal can be found under Dalaran, so long travel is unnecessary.
In the follow-up quest, you accompany Chromie as she experiences her own death multiple times and learns that the attacks come from various dragon shrines. She then attempts to travel further into the past to determine who is launching the attacks – but this fails.
The maximum time she can buy is 15 minutes. These 15 minutes are also the time limit that the scenario sets for you. Additionally, you will be set to player level 112 and your item level will be raised to 1000 – gear thus plays a minimal role.
What needs to be done for Chromie?
In total, 4 attacks must be repelled for the first step of the scenario. Which shrine you deal with first is ultimately irrelevant.
- Black Dragon Shrine: Reach the end of the tunnel and defeat the large skeletal construct. Return with the obtained quest item to the entrance and defeat the terror lord.
- Red Dragon Shrine: Defeat the 3 undead bosses and then the final boss of the shrine.
- Green Dragon Shrine: Kill enemies (plants and birds) to collect items. Once you have enough, you can switch to the Nightmare to save the three ancients of the shrine. Then go to the “Hand” of the large dragon skeleton and defeat the satyr.
- Blue Dragon Shrine: Simply defeat enemies until you have 50 collecting items. Then fly to the marked platform and defeat the Lord of the Void.
The shrines were just the beginning
Each final boss of a shrine leaves a quest item that you must still bring back to the Wyrmrest Temple during the scenario. This then unlocks a “Chronoportal,” which also needs to be cleared. That’s right: you must eliminate not just 4, but a total of 8 threats in time! But there are some aids for this…
Sand of Time – The Helper in Need
Enemies during the scenario occasionally drop “Sand of Time.” This can be used to unlock various bonuses. There is a fixed value of reputation gain, a percentage reputation buff for the rest of the scenario, gold rewards, movement speed buffs, and – most importantly – extra time.
If you can spend Sand of Time for additional seconds, you should do so in most cases. The bonus time adds up and allows you to perhaps take down one or two more bosses and get closer to completing the scenario.
A buff even allows you to clear a dragon shrine immediately – it’s best used on a “fresh” shrine.
Sand of Time can also be found in Chrono Chests that are scattered around the scenario – just keep your eyes open (or choose Chromie’s talent that reveals the chests).
Chromie’s Talents
If at the beginning you can only clear one or two dragon shrines, don’t worry about it. The more time you spend in the scenario, the more talents you unlock, which make future visits easier. Every attempt will go smoother than the previous one. Eventually, you will be able to manage all 4 shrines simultaneously.
By killing enemies, you gain reputation. With this, you reach new reputation levels with Chromie and can adjust her talents at the start of the scenario. This allows you to play the scenario as a healer! Besides the direct buffs like new abilities for Chromie, there are also passive bonuses such as increased damage and faster movement speed.
The scenario rewards you with transmog sets, by the way. But for most, the enjoyment of the scenario is reward enough.
