The loot from raids in World of Warcraft is a problem for many. However, the Game Director is already aware of it – although he has no good news.
Although World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is well received by most players, there are still several points of criticism. Loot is a major issue that the developers intend to address in a small patch – at least in “Mythic+” dungeons. Raid players also want more rewards, but there is nothing to be seen in Patch 9.0.5.
The Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has commented on this on Twitter.
What was said? In response to a user’s question about why there are no changes to raid loot, Hazzikostas explained:
Equipping through raids needs a little help, but because of the static nature of raid loot tables, a solution mid-tier is complicated. We want to implement dungeon improvements as soon as possible while discussing the right approach to improve other equipment sources like raiding or world content.
What does this mean? Currently, players are complaining that there are too few items in the raid. Bosses often drop only two items for a raid group, leading to very slow progress.
What Hazzikostas means by “world content” is not entirely clear. This could refer to world quests and the weekly world boss. There may be plans to improve the rewards from world quests or increase the chance of loot from the world boss. New bosses or quests in Patch 9.1 would certainly be a good thing.
When will changes come? In plain terms, this means that changes to raid loot will likely not arrive before Patch 9.1. Since Patch 9.0.5 is set to release in March, Patch 9.1 will likely fall into late April or even May 2021. We might learn a more precise date at BlizzConline next week, as there will surely be extensive discussions about the larger content update.
How would you fix the problem? Should more items simply drop per boss? Or does it require a different system?
