With the next patch, World of Warcraft will revise the upgrade system again. We will tell you what changes will occur.
The upgrade system in World of Warcraft Dragonflight is quite confusing for newcomers. There are flight stones, emblems, emblem fragments, and various paths on which items can be located. While veterans quickly understand the system and have experienced problems with it, it can be overwhelming for newcomers. With Patch 10.2 Dream Wardens, Blizzard will fix a few of the most annoying issues and spare your inventory.
What changes with the item system? The most important change is that emblems, just like flight stones, will no longer consume inventory slots. They will immediately transfer to your “Currencies / Badges” display and can be used from there.
The fragments from which emblems were previously built will also be removed. Instead, you will now receive full emblems directly. The costs for upgrades have been adjusted accordingly. You will now need 15 emblems instead of 1 emblem (15 fragments) for upgrading. However, emblems will drop in the same quantity as fragments previously did. In short, nothing will really change – only the fragments have been removed, and your inventory will no longer be cluttered.
Additionally, the individual tiers cover more item level upgrades. You can upgrade your items more frequently before they reach their maximum potential. This leads to a larger gap between the best heroic and the best mythical items. Furthermore, the upgrades will take a bit longer – this should address the problem that some players have the best gear within 2 or 3 weeks without any prospect of improvements.
Emblems can be exchanged upwards: The best change is the announcement that emblems can now be exchanged for better emblems at a rate of 6:1. You can exchange 90 Whelpling emblems for 15 Dragon emblems.
The requirement for this is that you no longer have any use for the respective emblem tier. If your gear in all slots is better than or equivalent to what Whelpling upgrades can create, you will unlock the exchange.
What do you think of these changes to the upgrade system? Is it good that inventory space is saved? Or will it only become more complicated?
It is also new that Blizzard has declared war on addons – WeakAura and Co. often no longer function.
