A new image of the villain from the next WoW expansion has surfaced. Is another epic cinematic on the way?
There are only a few weeks left until the next expansion of World of Warcraft launches. In the lead-up to the launch of Shadowlands, Blizzard has been revealing new “Afterlife” cinematics for weeks. But now an image of the Jailor, the main villain of Shadowlands, has appeared. The image is so good that many fans hope for an impressive CGI cinematic to come.
Where does the image come from? The image was first shared on MMO-Champion and later on the WoW subreddit. It is a cover image from PC Gamer magazine.
What is shown in the image? The image shows the Jailor. He is the primary antagonist in Shadowlands. Through him, Sylvanas has gained her immense power, and he commands the Maw, where currently the souls of all the dead are being drawn.
Is the image real? Apparently, yes. More images from the cover and the issue of PC Gamer have since been released. Everything indicates that this image is real and that a high-resolution CGI model of the Jailor exists.
What does this mean? The cover featuring the Jailor is at least proof that Blizzard possesses a detailed CGI model of the Jailor. This typically exists only if the developers intend to use it – in the form of one or more cinematics. Although the intro cinematic for Shadowlands has already been released, additional films are certainly possible.
After all, there were several CGI films during Battle for Azeroth that mainly told the story of Warchief Saurfang. It’s quite conceivable that the Jailor will also receive his own small film.
A good time for the release of such a cinematic would be on September 24. This would be a week after the last “Afterlife” short film. This series showcases different realms of the Shadowlands. However, there is no video for the “Maw,” the final area of Shadowlands. A CGI cinematic here would be a cool surprise to provide the Jailor with a solid story. And perhaps there is also the new, big conspiracy of WoW…
