World of Warcraft turns 18 years old and you get some rewards – especially fans of alt characters should take this opportunity now.
In World of Warcraft, birthday cheer has broken out again, as Blizzard’s MMORPG celebrates its 18th anniversary. This brings some rewards for players and also a buff that is again more powerful than in previous years. This makes leveling even faster – and you will be level 60 in no time, ready to start the new expansion Dragonflight.
What is there for the birthday? The 18th birthday of World of Warcraft is relatively unspectacular, as there are basically no new rewards. You can get the same rewards as last year. However, from the birthday package that you find in the mail for each character, you receive the well-known birthday buff, which this time grants 18% additional XP and reputation.
This pairs wonderfully with the “Winds of Wisdom” buff, which increases your XP by 50% until November 15.
Aside from that, the “old” activities from previous years are also active again. You can defeat the Doomwalker in Tanaris to collect a toy and a mount, or hunt the old Nightmare Dragons to pick up some rewards you may have missed in prior years.
How do you get to 78%? The current bonus of 50% from the Winds of Wisdom, combined with the 18th birthday, gives a bonus of 68%. You get the last 10% from the Darkmoon Faire, which has also been active since last Sunday. Grab tickets for the roller coaster or carousel there and take a ride to build up the one-hour buff. As long as it is active, you will receive another 10% more XP and reputation, so the bonus easily grows to 78%.
If you combine all these effects, leveling should currently go even faster, allowing you to comfortably reach level 50 in 2 to 3 evenings. Only the last 10 levels may take a bit longer – but even there these buffs help immensely.
Is there more? Yes. Those who aim for it can increase the bonus a little further. Because in Battle for Azeroth, it was possible to buy potions for an additional 10% XP. If you still have some left, you can temporarily increase the XP gain by another 10%.
Also, depending on your realm, it can be worthwhile to activate War Mode. This also provides a bonus of 10% to 30% – depending on how strong your faction is in the majority or minority. However, keep in mind that you might lose time through PvP deaths here. If you die too often, you can simply deactivate War Mode again in a nearby inn.
The birthday event lasts until November 27 – ending just in time for the release of Dragonflight.
