World of Warcraft turns 16 years old. This is being celebrated in-game as well – experience points, reputation, and a new item are raining down.
Since Patch 9.0 of World of Warcraft went live, leveling up has been incredibly fast. Thanks to the level squish, the 50 levels go by quickly, and many players reach the maximum level within one evening. For those who still want more, additional bonuses are now available, as WoW is celebrating its 16th birthday. By the way, the Darkmoon Faire is also taking place, promising even more XP.
What XP bonuses are currently available in WoW?
For WoW’s birthday, every character receives a small gift box through the mailbox. This also includes a “Holiday Package,” which, when used, increases gained reputation and experience by 16% – until the end of the event.
You can wonderfully combine this with the buff from the Darkmoon Faire, which offers an additional 10% on reputation and experience points. You receive the buff when you ride the roller coaster or merry-go-round. Tickets can be obtained from the NPC right in front of both attractions.
In contrast to the Holiday Package, the Darkmoon buff lasts only an hour and must be refreshed, which takes a few minutes.
Combined, these two buffs increase leveling speed by a hefty 26%. This means it only takes a few hours to reach the maximum level.
The buffs are also worthwhile for those who simply want to farm some reputation to snag a few Paragon chests.

The 16th birthday of WoW – What’s new? Basically, there are no major changes for the 16th birthday of World of Warcraft. Only a cloak suitable for transmog can be purchased from the vendor for 200 Time-Warped Badges.
What else does the birthday offer? In essence, all events from previous years are also present again. Just last year, WoW celebrated its 15th anniversary and brought some innovations. These are also included this year. They are:
- The old “Classic” bosses – Azuregos, Kazzak, and the Nightmare Dragons
- The classic Alterac Valley
- Daily quests on lore questions in the Caverns of Time
Not included is the special “15-Year Raid,” where you had to defeat a total of 9 bosses from different WoW eras. This event was likely intended exclusively for the 15th birthday and has not returned.
WoW has slightly advanced its birthday so that the event does not coincide with the release of Shadowlands. Because there, the XP and reputation buff at the beginning might be a bit too powerful.
The birthday lasts until November 22 – ending just before the release of Shadowlands.
