It can happen so quickly. Suddenly, experience points in WoW are negative and a character levels backwards!
With the major Patch 8.0 for World of Warcraft, everything was supposed to get better – but it didn’t at first. Now, a particularly curious bug has come to light, one that likely hasn’t been seen before. A player discovered that his character was no longer leveling up. Instead, he was leveling backwards and losing levels!
PvP made the level shrink. The player Saurzan wanted to level up his Mage to prepare for the upcoming expansion. After a visit to the battleground, his character was supposed to go from level 98 to 99 – but that didn’t happen.
Instead, his character had a lower level after the battleground than before! He was reset to level 94.
Gear he cannot equip. As proof, there is gear that his character is wearing. Saurzan has some armor pieces on his body that he can no longer equip because they require a higher level. For example, he is wearing gloves that require level 98 but are already equipped by his level-94 Mage. This can only be explained by “backwards leveling”.

Blizzard acted immediately. After a ticket from the player, it didn’t take long for Blizzard to help. After all, it was obviously a game bug. A support staff member restored the character and reset it “back” to its higher level.
Whether this bug remains an isolated case or if other players will suffer from it in the coming days remains to be seen. So far, however, it appears to be unique in the history of World of Warcraft.
What is the funniest bug you have experienced in recent days?
