Multiple players have stumbled upon a remarkable display bug when logging into World of Warcraft, which seems to increase the character’s health to raid boss level.
What kind of bug is this? What would you say if your shaman from WoW suddenly had 2,147,483,647 health points upon logging in? That exactly happened to player kaptingavrin, as shown in his post on Reddit. The red warning effect in the image occurs because his actual 36,433 health is just a fraction of the new maximum health of over 2 billion points.
In further comments, the affected player writes (via Reddit):
I logged in on my shaman tonight to quickly take care of the trading posts for the month, and the screen was flashing red for low health, which was strange since I was at full health.
So I tried to use “Healing Wave,” and nothing moved at all. Then I noticed my health. Um… WHAT. Somehow I had over 2 billion health points. Yeah, no wonder my healing spells weren’t doing much.

- ILiveAtWalmart explains on Reddit: “It seems to be a graphical/UI problem, not a gameplay effect. It happened to me too. I had more than double the health I usually have. Relogging seems to fix it.”
Several other affected players also confirmed that relogging or changing zones into a dungeon could fix the bug. Additionally, one cannot heal beyond the old, correct health value using, for example, food that regenerates health points proportionally.
This underscores that it is merely a false display. This is one of the most famous errors in WoW history: A bug in WoW is legendary to this day and even had real-world effects
