In World of Warcraft, you will soon be able to fly on the Dragon Isles – without a dragon. The ‘normal flying’ will finally be unlocked via an achievement.
In World of Warcraft Dragonflight, everything revolves around dragons. Even the movement works through the new dragon flying. Dragon flying has been very well received by most players as it is more dynamic and faster – but not everyone is satisfied with it. Now Blizzard is also bringing ‘normal’ flying to the Dragon Isles with Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream.
How do you unlock flying on the Dragon Isles? To do this, you must complete a ‘Pathfinder’ achievement as usual. These achievements demonstrate that you have played most of the content of an expansion at least once.
The Pathfinder of the Dragon Isles has the following requirements:
- Complete all main quest lines in the following areas:
- Waking Shore
- Ohn’ahra Plains
- Azure Span
- Thaldraszus
- Zaralek Caverns
- Explore all areas of Dragonflight:
- Waking Shore
- Ohn’ahra Plains
- Azure Span
- Thaldraszus
- Zaralek Caverns
- Emerald Dream
- Reach Fame Level 15 with all factions of the Dragon Isles:
- Valdrakken Accord
- Dragon Scale Expedition
- Tuskar of Iskaara
- Maruuk Centaur
- Niffen of Loamm
- Dream Wardens
For active players, this means that they basically only need to bring the new faction of the Dream Wardens to Fame Level 15 and have explored the Emerald Dream area. This should be the case in the first weeks after the release of Patch 10.2.
However, Blizzard emphasizes that the Pathfinder achievement is not yet fully implemented on the PTR. Therefore, it is possible that further – or fewer – requirements need to be met.
What does this bring? Normal flying is likely to be particularly interesting for farming alts and for all those who simply cannot cope with dragon flying. While most players have figured out how to navigate their dragon to fly almost endlessly, others still struggle with the system and fail at large obstacles.
Aside from that, normal flying is of course great for “just going afk” – because on conventional flying mounts you can maintain your altitude without sinking to the ground or descending.
Are you looking forward to normal flying on the Dragon Isles? Or are you more waiting for dragon riding in Azeroth?
