On the PTR of World of Warcraft, new achievements have appeared that can no longer be obtained. To earn these achievements, you had to have played before Wrath of the Lich King and actively practiced professions.
What are these achievements? Achievements are special accomplishments in their own tab that only appear in your achievement overview when you have them. Before that, they are hidden.
These achievements represent particularly strong, unique accomplishments that you usually only receive if you participated in time-limited events – for example, defeating the final boss of a raid before the next content drops.
As wowhead has found out, there will soon be achievements for crafters who were actively engaged with their professions in the past. Specifically, these refer to profession specializations that are no longer in the game and special events such as the openings of Naxxramas and Zul’Gurub.
With WoW Dragonflight, professions have been completely overhauled. In the video, we explain what crafters need to pay attention to now:
How do I get the new achievements? The achievements currently on the PTR require you to have played before the release of Wrath of the Lich King or Cataclysm and been engaged with professions. The new achievements include:
- Artisan of the Argent Dawn: Help the Argent Dawn in the assault on Naxxramas with your crafting skills before the expedition to Northrend sets off.
- Artisan of the Zandalari Tribe: Help the Zandalari tribe with your crafting skills before the Cataclysm strikes.
- Various achievements for specializations that no longer exist, such as: Tribal Leatherworking, Mooncloth Tailoring, or Weaponsmithing. You must have learned these before Cataclysm as well.
The new achievements are likely to come with the upcoming patch 10.0.7. However, you can only obtain them if you played back between 12 and 15 years ago.
Those who did not play back then will not go empty-handed either. New achievements for dragon riding will also be introduced, which you will receive when you master the various courses on the Dragon Isles. Additionally, there are achievements for some quests, explorations, and reputation in Dragonflight.
New achievements can prevent annoying discussions
Why are these achievements being introduced right now? Players are currently discussing what achievements should exist in WoW that can effectively no longer be obtained. Some suspect that the achievements are meant to make players recognizable again.
Blizzard is currently focusing on many old contents. For example, there is the possibility to use white and gray items as transmog, many of which were previously crafted by professions. Some old dresses are even worth millions.
The corresponding specializations and events had recipes to learn that could not be obtained otherwise. In case the corresponding recipes come back or to recognize players who master such templates, achievements are a simple way of recognition without having to rely on the claim: ‘I could do this before!’
Old professions are also currently a topic among top players. Because with certain recipes from the past, even tough bosses in Dragonflight can be defeated much more easily:
