With Patch 10.0.7, you can equip characters in World of Warcraft even more easily. The developers are already introducing the first “Catch-Up Gear” – even though there is nothing to catch up on.
The next patch of World of Warcraft is already on the PTR. Although the update 10.0.7 is not a major patch, there are still a number of new features and even a revamped area. After all, it takes us to the “Forbidden Island”, the former starting area of the Dracthyr.
This not only brings new quests and more content in the endgame, but also a new way to equip characters. Because all over the island, you can get the first “Catch-Up Gear” from Dragonflight.
What kind of equipment is this? The equipment is the upgraded “Primal Infusion” armor, which you can currently buy in Valdrakken and even offers set bonuses that are especially useful in the open world.
So far, one had to farm a weaker version of this gear from the Elemental Storms and even upgrade it with Storm Seals for it to reach its full potential. This very gear will now drop in the form of badges on the Forbidden Island.
So-called “Catch-Up Gear” has a long tradition in World of Warcraft. It is usually introduced quite late in the lifecycle of an expansion and is intended to allow new players to quickly “catch up” their characters (from the English “to catch up” – “aufholen”) in order to participate in the current content.
It usually consists of equipment or redeemable badges that can be sent from one character to another. For example, the main character can help a second character receive decent gear early on.
How do you get the gear? At least currently, it seems that the badges for this gear are primarily dropped by rare enemies (“Rare Mobs”) on the island. Whether you are out with your “Main” or a new character on the island, you should be able to quickly acquire the Twink gear and outfit your characters.
Why is this unusual? Typically, Blizzard introduces such catch-up mechanics only with the release of a major patch when a new raid or season begins. That Blizzard is bringing this gear during an ongoing season is rather unusual.
However, this aligns well with the current “Twink-friendliness” that Blizzard displays. Rarely in the history of World of Warcraft has it been so easy for newcomers or Twink fans to catch up their characters and prepare them for the current endgame.
When will it be released? There is no release date for Patch 10.0.7 yet. However, since Blizzard plans to release a total of 6 patches in 2023, an update would have to be released approximately every 8 weeks. This would mean that Patch 10.0.7 should arrive on live servers around the end of March. As soon as there is a specific date, we will of course report on it.
