An old feature from WoW: Battle for Azeroth will soon be accessible to solo players. The island expeditions are returning.
Even though Patch 9.1.5 of World of Warcraft is not yet playable on the PTR, Blizzard is revealing piece by piece what the upcoming update will include. In addition to some new character customization options for Allied Races, another detail has now been revealed. One of the “big” features from Battle for Azeroth will also be made available to solo players.
What was said? In the European WoW forum, Community Manager Linxy spoke up. It was explained that Blizzard is working on making the island expeditions from Battle for Azeroth accessible to solo players.
The current plan is that with Patch 9.1.5, all characters can join island expeditions either alone, in pairs, or as usual in threes.
What does this bring? Even though island expeditions were a controversial feature in Battle for Azeroth as they represented a monotonous grind for artifact power, there were a number of players who liked island expeditions. Even now, island expeditions offer hundreds of different rewards that can be found nowhere else. These include special mounts as well as interesting transmog sets, numerous toys, and a whole lot for pet collectors.
All of this can soon be farmed solo, so one will no longer be dependent on a group.
When is it coming? There is currently no release date for Patch 9.1.5. However, the glory system provides a potential hint at this. Because until October 20, it is possible to reach new glory levels. Only then will all characters be “fully” and maximally developed. That would be a good date to release Patch 9.1.5 shortly thereafter.
What does Blizzard intend with this? Being able to complete island expeditions solo is a wish that players had right from the start of Shadowlands. After all, there are numerous achievements, toys, mounts, and transmog that still look quite stylish.
Since Blizzard will mainly be making improvements with Patch 9.1.5 and needs to offer players some content as simply as possible to bridge the gap until 9.2, this is a good opportunity for island expeditions.
Will you catch up on the islands and earn all the rewards? Or can’t even ten Tauren get you back to the islands?
